Young and beginning farmers are the future and small farmers continue their important contribution to agriculture. Cape Fear Farm Credit is committed to being a reliable, consistent, and conservative lender for young, beginning or small (YBS) farmers in its territory. The objective of the YBS farmer program is to make a concentrated and cooperative effort to finance YBS farmers and to encourage the entry and continuation of YBS farmers in agriculture.
Are you a Young, Beginning or Small Farmer?
- A young farmer is one that is age 35 or younger.
- A beginning farmer is one who has 10 years or less of farming, ranching or aquatic experience.
- A small farmer is one who normally generates less than $250,000 in annual gross sales of agricultural or aquatic products.
Ag Biz Planner Program
The Ag Biz Planner Program has been designed to:
- assist young, beginning, small, and minority farmers in becoming more successful business people through knowledge of the marketplace, financial and business management topics,
- teach farmers valuable skills that will enable them to develop a useful, meaningful strategic business plan for their own business,
- take advantage of the convenience of online training curriculum to improve their individual skills to help them become more responsible financial managers, and
- create a face-to-face conference allowing for networking of participants.
